Events Manager (Maternity Cover)

The Spa is a 70 bedroom, family run, 4 star hotel situated in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Hotel Events Manager to head up our busy Conference and Events Department for approximately one year.

Please note this role is expected to commence early April 2020 and we are happy to accept applications from candidates seeking both full time and part time hours which can be discussed in more detail at interview stage.

The Spa is a popular conference, event and wedding venue in Kent, with 8 function rooms varying in capacity from 10 people to 300.

The role:

You will be managing a team of Event Coordinators taking responsibility for ensuring the delivery of seamless and thoroughly organised conferences, events and weddings. It is essential that you demonstrate a positive attitude to motivate the team to provide exceptional customer service and encourage the converting of bookings.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating events in conjunction with the client both verbally and in writing
  • Completing event administration to a high standard with excellent attention to detail, ensuring clear communication with the operations team
  • Selling the hotel’s spaces and facilities effectively
  • Managing all aspects of events, Receiving, handling and converting wedding, meeting, events and some group enquiries, as well as overseeing the team and with enquiries and quotations of events
  • Provide weekly updates on confirmed and forecasted revenue in comparison to previous years.
  • Encouraging repeat business as a result of excellent customer service and enquiry handling
  • Upselling products and services throughout the event process
  • Assisting with the sales process and providing new ideas to generate revenue in the department
  • Respond in writing and face to face for guests problems/complaints and stays available to solve problems and/or suggest a solution
  • Providing a high level of customer service and ensuring the same from other employees
  • Flexibility required for working additional hours and weekends, to meet the business needs
  • To keep a regular check on the event bills to make sure all charges are correct and issued promptly to receive payment within our 14 day time frame
  • Manage and encourage the team while holding reviews and regular event meetings
  • Follow all hotel procedures and policies whilst ensuring your team adhere to these also
  • Ensuring all aspects of each event runs flawlessly, cooperating with the relevant departments in the hotel to achieve this

The person:

Knowledge of sales and generating new business is essential, alongside previous experience in a managerial events role, preferably within a hotel. You must be passionate about delivering exceptional hospitality to all of our guests while demonstrating an excellent knowledge of the hotel, packages and food and drink offerings. Knowledge of Reslynx and Fourth would be beneficial.

You must be able to work well under pressure with a strong attention to detail, meet deadlines and achieve targets, whilst offering the very highest level of customer service at all times.

You must be determined and driven to ensure the business and department excels itself. You must be a team player, be computer literate and have excellent communication skills.

Maintenance Assistant

PAINTING AND DECORATING EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL

Hours of work: Full time, 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday 9.30am to 6.00pm. Please note that flexibility in this role is essential and you may also occasionally be required to work outside of these hours or be ‘on-call’ at prior agreed times.

Salary: Competitive based on level of experience

The Spa is a 70 bedroom, family run, 4 star hotel situated in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

The hotel is situated in 14 acres of maintained gardens and grounds and also features a Spa/Health Club with a pool, sauna, steam room, gymnasium and treatment rooms, seven function rooms, two restaurants and a large hotel lobby and kitchen.

We are looking to appoint a Maintenance Assistant with some painting and decorating experience to assist the Maintenance Manager with general maintenance upkeep across the entire hotel and the refurbishment of areas.

This is a very hands on role that will involve carrying out all aspects of maintenance or arranging appropriate repairs in a timely and efficient manner. You must work well as an individual but be able to take direction from management effectively. Candidates will ideally have experience working within a trade or labouring and a painting & decorating experience is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform day-to-day routine and preventative maintenance within the hotel rooms
  • Respond promptly to maintenance calls that arise from guests or colleagues
  • Maintain all tools, equipment and work areas in excellent condition
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the hotel, its bedrooms, public areas and equipment
  • To assist in carrying out procedures and standards for the safe and economical operation, maintenance, service and repair of all plant, electrical, plumbing and kitchen equipment and ensure good record keeping of such procedures
  • Prioritisation of jobs and ensuring jobs are completed in order of importance
  • Ensure regular updates are communicated with the maintenance manager
  • Assist in regular testing on equipment and recording results from such tests such as fire/pat/legionnaires testing

Part Time Room Attendant

The Spa is a 70 bedroom family run 4 star hotel situated in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

We are looking to appoint a full time Room Attendant to work within our busy Housekeeping department. Duties will include cleaning bedrooms and public areas of the hotel, ensuring all areas are presented to a high standard for our guetsts. This is a full time position working 3 days out of 7 including weekends on a rotational basis. Usual hours of work are 7:00am until 3:30pm.

Previous experience is welcomed but not essential as full training will be given.

Junior Sous Chef

We are looking to recruit a Junior Sous or Commis Chef to work in our busy kitchen serving several food outlets, including Brasserie, Afternoon Tea, Banqueting & Fine Dining.

This is a full time position and previous relevant experience is essential, this is a very busy, fast paced kitchen so the ideal candidate will work very well under pressure and have experience in a high volume kitchen.

Part Time Breakfast Assistant

The Spa is a 70 bedroom, family run, 4 star hotel situated in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

We are looking for a part time Breakfast Waiter to ensure the smooth running of the Breakfast service within our busy and fast-paced Restaurant.

The role:

You will be required to ensure the restaurant is well-presented, clean and tidy, and set-up to a high standard at all times during our Breakfast service. Most importantly, you must demonstrate a passion for delivering excellent customer service to our guests.

This role is approximately 20 hours a week covering the breakfast service, shifts will include weekends.

About you:

Ideally you will have similar service/restaurant experience in a preferably within a hotel, this is not essential as full training will be given. You must be able to work well under pressure, with good problem-solving and impeccable customer service skills. You must also be able to demonstrate excellent communication between the restaurant, kitchen, and the other relevant departments around the hotel. You must be well presented and courteous, with a friendly and welcoming personality.

Food and Beverage Assistant

The Spa is a 70 bedroom family run 4 star hotel situated in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

We are looking to recruit a full-time food and beverage assistant to assist within our Lobby and Brasserie, serving food and drinks and welcoming guests.

The successful applicant will ideally have relevant previous experience in a café/restaurant/bar and must demonstrate a passion for good service. You will be dedicated, a team player, have excellent customer service and work well under pressure.

This is a full-time role working 5 days over a 7 day rota including evenings and weekends.

Gym Assistant

The Spa is a 70 bedroom, four star, family run hotel situated in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

We are looking to appoint a Part Time Gym Assistant to join the team in Spa Health.

The chosen candidate will be working a mixture of early and late shifts, and will include some weekends on a rotational basis. Hours are negotiable but approximately 24-32 hours a week are required.

About us:

The Spa Health Leisure Club is situated within The Spa Hotel, a family run Hotel in Royal Tunbridge Wells. The club and treatment rooms are open to Hotel residents as well as local guests for gym memberships and spa days. More than just a gym, the club has a social feel to it and member’s perks include discounts on accommodation, spa treatments and food and drink.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting on the Reception desk during the clubs opening hours
  • Assisting the Leisure Manager with the day to day running of the club
  • Opening / closing the club (dependent on shift)
  • Swimming pool testing & maintenance
  • Reception cover including meeting and greeting all guests, answering the telephone and taking bookings for spa treatments, gym inductions, fitness assessments, leisure membership subscriptions
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the facilities are to required standards
  • Some routine health and safety checks are required, as is the need to keep the Reception area tidy and presentable
  • Personal training sessions (if qualified)

About you:

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within a Fitness/Leisure club, within a similar role and someone with a Personal Training qualification would be desirable but not imperative. The most important thing is that you possess a warm and welcoming personality, with excellent communication skills and solid computer literacy coupled with an interest in fitness and beauty.
